Swimming Pool Temperature
WHAT IS THE BEST TEMPERATURE FOR A SWIMMING POOL?
Many, including the American Red Cross suggest 78 degrees for swimming. If you have ever been in a pool or other body of water this temperature, you will know it is rather chilly. This temperature is suggested for competitive swimming, not necessarily every day use. The cold water promotes faster heartbeat, and heavier breathing in order to keep warm. This does work well for competitive swimming, or for exercise, but I have always been more comfortable between 80 and 82 degrees.
